In addition to signing his name, Steve also inscribed “Lefty” on the item. Steve Carlton is one of the greatest left-handed pitchers in Major League Baseball history. Over a 24-year career, primarily with the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals, he was the first pitcher to win four Cy Young Awards (1972, 1977, 1980, 1982) and helped lead the Phillies to their first World Series championship in 1980. Carlton was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994, and his No. 32 jersey was retired by the Phillies.
