In addition to signing his name Lou inscribed “To Jake Best Wishes” on the item. Lou was the 1969 AL Rookie of the Year and a two-time World Series champion as a player, later winning 1,835 games as a manager, including a 1990 World Series title with the Reds and a record-tying 116-win season with the Mariners in 2001. He was named Manager of the Year three times during his 23-season managerial career.
