In addition to signing his name, Tom also inscribed “The Franchise” on the item. Tom Seaver was an American Major League Baseball pitcher, widely regarded as one of the greatest pitchers of all time. Nicknamed “Tom Terrific” and “The Franchise,” he played most notably for the New York Mets, as well as the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, and Boston Red Sox from 1967 to 1986. Seaver won three Cy Young Awards, was a 12-time All-Star, and helped lead the Mets to their first World Series title in 1969. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 with one of the highest voting percentages in history at the time.
