Bench was a central figure in the Reds’ “Big Red Machine” dynasty of the 1970s, helping lead the team to four National League pennants and two World Series championships in 1975 and 1976. A 14-time All-Star and two-time National League MVP (1970, 1972), Bench was known for his exceptional defensive skills, earning 10 consecutive Gold Glove Awards from 1968 to 1977. Bench was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
