Bobby Thomson was a Major League Baseball outfielder best known for hitting one of the most iconic home runs in baseball history. On October 3, 1951, while playing for the New York Giants, Thomson hit the “Shot Heard ’Round the World”—a dramatic three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers and win the National League pennant. Over a 15-year career (1946–1960), Thomson played for several teams, including the Giants, Milwaukee Braves, and Chicago Cubs, finishing with a .270 batting average, 264 home runs, and 1,026 RBIs.
